Bassem Terkawi is a media communications professional, he has been working in the fields of communications and public relations since 1996. He established PR and event management strategies for multi-million dollar real estate projects, tourism boards, hospitality groups, various other entities and start-ups in the Middle East region.

Throughout his working career, he has been exposed to different facets of communications and has gained a profound insight on media relations, crisis management, elevating brand images through events and various marketing tactics, and devising and implementing innovative strategies for tourism and hospitality companies.

Bassem has been working for the past 9 years as the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) in Abu Dhabi. In this capacity, he has lead corporate launches for some of Abu Dhabi's key tourism and cultural developments, such as Saadiyat Island, Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum, Zayed National Museum and Qasr Al Sarab Resort.

Prior to that, Bassem's career featured numerous initiatives, including setting up the public relations strategy for Dubai Festival City and actively promoting the project's many entities – hotels, residential developments and shopping complexes.

Furthermore, while based in Doha, Qatar, he managed Qatar Tourism Authority's public relations department, where he launched the company's new corporate identity as well as representative offices across prime European destinations, including London, Frankfurt, Milan and Moscow.

As the Public Relations Manager for Jumeirah, Bassem handled the PR for the group of iconic hotels and managed PR agencies across the Middle East. He established media relations with Arabic-speaking press and initiated PR campaigns for the grand opening of Burj Al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah and other landmark properties of the group.

Bassem graduated with a Law Degree from Beirut Arab University in Beirut, Lebanon in 1996. He has a Higher Diploma in Intellectual Property from Switzerland World Intellectual Property Organization based in Geneva, Switzerland.
